“The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.” A quote from John F. Kennedy six months before his assassination. Considering the changes in our country, the 59-year-old message remains true today. Truth and Facts are critical to a civilized society.
In 1838, then President Lincoln addressed Springfield Illinois saying,” Shall we expect some transatlantic giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasures of the earth; with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reaches us, it must spring up among us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.” Unbelievable wisdom from an American leader so long ago.
Today, we face challenging times, the very fabric of our nation is at risk, we have a dangerously mounting threat internally from a formidable and vastly overreaching federal government. The ignorance of voters, the complacency of our citizens is allowing this unprecedented over-reach where government agencies have become politicized, taking marching orders from the elected majority and the White House.
A short 250 years ago, Americans stood against the tyrannical English Monarchy giving life and fortune to end out of control, uncaring and un-listening rule. Today we see the ruling government failing to secure our borders, restricting our lives by mandate and using government police goons to invade the home of a past sitting President while failing to go after the past Secretary of State and wife of a past president who failed to secure secret information. We see the son of a sitting President using his father’s political influence to garner huge amounts of money from our foreign enemies, without prosecution.
A few short weeks ago we witnessed the execution of a Constitutionally illegal violation of the 4th Amendment by the US Attorney General and the FBI with the approval of the White House. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be search, and the persons or things to be seized.
At the same time, the controlling party passed the absurdly called “Inflation Reduction” bill that will double the size of the IRS and use their powers to harass taxpayers who speak against or do not support the Democrat party. The IRS specified that new applicants should be willing and able to participate in arrest, search warrants and other assignments while armed and willing to use deadly force. I have to ask why we need more armed government agents.
In a 2020 report called “The Militarization of the US Executive Agencies,” it was reported that the IRS at that time had more than 4,600 firearms including 3,282 handguns, 621 shotguns, 539 rifles (15 fully automatic) and a staggering 3.1 million rounds of ammo for handguns, 1.4 million rounds for rifles, 367,000 rounds for shotguns and 56,000 rounds for full auto rifles. During the Clinton administration, IRS Inspector General Harry Patsalides admitted to a Senate Committee that IRS agents had stolen citizen vehicles, bullied citizens and allowed agents to conduct armed raids on nonviolent taxpayers.
Get ready, the Democrats have authorized the IRS to double the number of these government thug bureaucrats. Let us not forget the actions of government agencies at Ruby Ridge and Waco using armed agents to subdue non-violent citizens, taking the lives of dozens of innocent Americans. Will we be destroyed from within or will we take back our country from the tyrannical Democrats? Don’t be that ignorant voter Kennedy spoke of. Vote Republican in November and stop the tyranny.
Terry Harper, Past State Republican Executive Committee Chairman for Senate District 21
Terry Harper I'm glad someone else is recognizing & writing on how we can't be lazy voters & must be more informed than we claim ourselves to be....we had this conversation re: John Cornyn, he was telling people who he was yet during his last primary challenge people voted for him despite their being a more conservative candidate who was more in line with their views. Instead, we go for the familiar & hope for and rely on "term limits" vice education to get people out of office Every election cycle gives us a chance to limit someone's term.
